How to Get to Orcas Island
Getting to Orcas Island is half the fun! Book your flight to arrive
into Seattle, Washington (airport code: SEA for SEA-TAC International Airport).
From Sea-Tac airport, you have several options:
- Rent a car and drive. It takes
approximately 90 minutes to drive from Sea-Tac to the Anacortes ferry
landing. You will take I-5 North to Burlington. Take Exit 230
and travel West on Highway 20 to Anacortes. Follow the signs to the
Anacortes Ferry Terminal (you'll turn left near the Safeway grocery store).
The relaxing Orcas Island Ferry will take about between 50-75 minutes
depending on the schedule.

When you reach Orcas, drive off of the ferry and turn left. You will
follow the cars and signs to Eastsound Village. The Balance Studio is
located in Eastsound Village off of Main Street at the end of Madrona Street
at 480 Madrona St.
(Approx cost of ferry to Orcas: $35 round-trip for car and driver)
- Take the economical shuttle. There is a shuttle services that
picks up from Sea-Tac approximately every 2 hours, on a schedule, for travel
to Anacortes, home of the San Juan Ferry Terminal. You will walk onto
the ferry at the San Juan Ferry Terminal to Orcas Island.
Depending on prior arrangements, you'll take a taxi from the ferry landing
to your hotel or we'll pick you up. If you arrive without a car,
you may be able to rent one on the island; we recommend that you stay in
Eastsound Village so that you are close to amenities within walking
distance.

Call Orcas Island Taxi at 1-360-376-8294 for information and reservations
from the ferry terminal on Orcas Island to your hotel or The Balance Studio.
(Approx cost: $35 one way for the shuttle and $20 one way for the taxi)
- Take the fun and quick sea plane/float plane.
With prior notification, the airline will shuttle you for free to the Lake
Union harbor where your small float plane will await. You can arrive
at the Rosario Resort on Cascade Bay in under 45 minutes. Depending on
prior arrangements, you'll walk 5-10 minutes to Cascade Inn, or you'll take a taxi from the
dock to your hotel, or we'll pick you up when we see/hear
you land.
(Approx cost: $67-125 one way)
- Take the quick and
small wheeled plane.
With prior notification, the airline will shuttle you, for free, to Boeing
Airport where your small plane will await. You can arrive in Eastsound
Village in between 40-60 minutes, depending on the season. Depending on prior arrangements, you'll
take a taxi from the airport to your hotel or we'll pick you up. Our
offices are located in Eastsound Village.

What to Bring
- Your normal travel gear. Keep in mind that the small wheeled plane
and sea plane have very tight luggage restrictions due to the size of the
crafts. (You are welcome to ship insured items to our offices.)
